A President and His Oil
While people in New Orleans were searching for food and water, President Bush was on vacation. He graciously cut his vacation short by two days because of the disaster. I am disturbed by the focus of his efforts over the past week.
Our President spent time working on releasing crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserves… time which could have been spent on getting food to starving Americans. He spent time working on lifting EPA regulations so that gas could flow more freely from state to state… time which could have been spent on evacuation plans. He spent time working on waiving shipping regulations so that oil could be transported in American waters by foreign ships… time which could have been spent meeting with Mayors and Governors of states which have been devastated to find out what they need.
Our President seems to be more concerned about oil than human lives, but I guess we already knew that.

Yeah it is pretty sad that we can just drop everything to help foreign nations when they have problems but when something happens in our own country we don't know what to do.
I did hear he is going over there today to check out the wreckage.

Well, I think they did the math, found out statistically how few rich white male republicans were actually affected by this, and set the response timetable according to that.

It's people. Soylent Green is made out of people. They're making our food out of people. Next thing they'll be breeding us like cattle for food. You've gotta tell them. You've gotta tell them!
